Digital perfection for Pixelence

Digital designer, artworker and photographer Nic’s branding had a revamp towards the end of last year. Working with the existing name – Pixelence, the brief required a strong branding, that could stand alone, and also be flexible enough to work with other elements, such as photography. We initially explored a range of concepts including the use of ‘pixels’ to create the lettering and logotype.

After developing several options using this approach we settled on a distinctive solution. The new identity worked successfully across many applications including, traditional embossing for stationery, stickers, promotional items and digitally for online presentations and screensavers. A website is currently in the planning stage.

Alongside his ‘day job’ commitment of producing digital artwork for clients (including Apple Europe), Nic spent much of last summer on a personal project capturing the miniature world of insects and bugs. The stunning results formed the basis of his Wings & Stings series, some of which were published in Practical Photography magazine last year.

The idea behind the series was to capture the individuality, character, and even humour of these insects when looked at larger than life size through a Canon 100mm macro lens. Some of the posters from the series can be seen below.

The new branding featured on a series of promotional postcards mailed to clients old and new. In fact they have proved so popular, that some of the images will be made available as prints and cards.
