Tilley and Associates win Marple identity project

We submitted a creative tender to brand Marple just after Easter – and have recently been informed that our bid was successful. Great news!

Marple is a small town, with a friendly village atmosphere nestled on the edge of the Peak District.  It is particularly picturesque, situated on the River Goyt with stunning views towards the hills of Kinder Scout and is notable for its historically important canal system, Aqueduct and 16 flight locks.

Marple is often described as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Stockport Borough; even so it is probably the best kept secret in the region. Many people are completely unaware of the significantly fascinating heritage of the town, from the earliest times of Iron Age forts to perfect examples of early industrial revolution, such as the canals, locks and its 200 year old Iron Bridge. The scenery is breathtaking – looking out to the hills and valleys of the Peak District and array of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in Brabyns and Memorial Parks, The Roman Lakes valley and beyond.

Working closely with Marple town team, and to kick the project off we are running a workshop with the Stakeholders to determine the key characteristics of the town.

The design work will include;

  • Identity (logotype)
  • Toolkit, to include identity guidelines and possibly photography
  • Wayfinding scheme and town signage, with an informative website
  • Advertising and promotional literature.

We’re absolutely delighted about the news and can’t wait to get started. It’s a lovely project to be involved with.
