Branding Buxton – Tilley and Associates appointed to create identity

The concept for the logotype is to be based around the theme of ‘water and spa heritage’ and will feature the strapline ‘England’s leading Spa town’. Initial ideas have been created and these are in the early stages of design development – with a view for completion in November. Design Director, Eric Tilley states; “the research we did was very revealing – it’s quite staggering to see how many Spa towns do not capitalise on their (water based) heritage. I believe this is Buxton’s greatest asset and it seemed the obvious choice to focus on this.”

The toolkit is a marketing initiative led by Vision Buxton, where Eric is also a Director of this organisation. “I’ve been working with the marketing team and I am delighted with the progress we are making – being highly experienced in branding work, this is a project which I have personally wanted to do for many years – the Buxton identity will be the icing on the cake for the toolkit and will help put our town on the map.”

The identity is being produced for a low budget and is joint funded by High Peak Borough Council and Vision Buxton.

Adrian Brown, co Chair of Vision Buxton added; “We’re absolutely delighted to be developing this work – it’s a landmark project for the town and also for Tilley and Associates, who have been trading in Buxton for several years now – we can’t wait to bring this to fruition.”

The identity will initially feature on marketing materials including advertising, the town guide and the visit Buxton website. In the future, it is hoped that it will also endorse signage and wayfinding around Buxton and key entrances to the town.
